Some African players, such as Samuel Eto’o and Didier Drogba, have entered football politics after retiring. On the other hand, Asamoah Gyan is no exception.
Asamoah Gyan has a strong bond with these two and aspires to follow in their footsteps one day.
Samuel Eto’o, a former player for Barcelona and Inter Milan, was chosen head of the Cameroonian Football Federation last year.
Former Chelsea forward Didier Drogba has been permitted to compete for the leadership of the Ivorian Football Federation.

“I don’t know. It might be possible. I haven’t thought about it. There are a lot of people who call me and tell me that I can be the FA President one day,” he told Accra-based Asaase Radio.
“It’s something I haven’t thought about but it might get to a time when I might pick a thought that the people are choosing me. I don’t think Samuel Eto’o and Didier Drogba ever thought that they would go for the presidency. It got to a time where they realized that they could,” Gyan added.
Gyan is the country’s all-time leading goal scorer, with 51 goals at the World Cups in Germany, South Africa, and Brazil, respectively, in 2006, 2010, and 2014.
He has scored almost 200 goals for clubs such as Udinese, Sunderland, Rennes, and Al Ain in the United Arab Emirates.
