The encounter took an unexpected turn when Salernitana’s Chukwubuikem Ikwuemesi capitalised on a defensive mishap by Federico Gatti, swiftly netting a goal within the first two minutes. However, Juventus swiftly regrouped, leveling the score with Fabio Miretti’s strike just ten minutes later.
With Andrea Cambiaso adding another goal in the 35th minute, Juventus firmly stamped their authority on the game. Federico Chiesa’s precision paved the way for Daniele Rugani’s goal at the 53rd minute, extending their lead. A 75th-minute own-goal by Salernitana’s Dylan Bronn further compounded the visitors’ woes.
Kenan Yildiz and Timothy Weah further extended Juventus’ lead, sealing an impressive triumph. Coach Massimiliano Allegri praised his team’s resilience, highlighting their commendable comeback after conceding early.
